Happy 150th Birthday HSDM! Harvard has been a life-altering experience for me and for many of my classmates! I vividly remember the humble, cozy interim HSDM building of the 1990s, occupied by a small tight-knit community of only a very fortunate and driven few. How can we forget what we learned from Drs. Norris, Howell, Tung, and many others, and the support we received from Dean Donoff, Dean Henry, Mr. Leblanc, and Dennis, our x-ray technician? The high caliber of pedagogy and abundance of research opportunities from the excellent faculty has been the gold standard of my professional life.
In addition, we developed life-long friendships and many of us ended up married to our classmates! Dean Donoff has even shaken his head, chuckled, and said: “If you want to get married, just come to HSDM!”
I have always kept my connection to Harvard from nearby or afar by keeping in touch with my friends, being a member of our local Harvard Club, and volunteering for the Harvard alumni association – and it has truly been an honor and a privilege to serve HSDM as the president of our alumni association. I look forward to continuing to serve the HSDM community and to giving back to the school that gave me so much!
